Welcome to myshaheen.net!

This is THE first website created to unite students of Shaheen School, Dhaka. Search for friends from Shaheen. Membership is exclusive and free to all shaheens. All you need to do to take advantage of all the forum has to offer is by proceeding through the registration process to establish a User ID and password. It's a database for shaheens, simple.

It is our hope that this website will eventually become the main resource center for Shaheen School students - our place on the Net. Our success, however, will depend on our members' input. So I encourage all members to contribute as much as you can to make this online forum a success!

We will be only very happy to answer any queries you might have about this website. You can email us at info@myshaheen.net.

The Shaheens’ Forum welcomes all student regardless of the length of time you attended Shaheen School.

Background: June 2006, we launched a website targeting the 79 batch of the ex-shaheens. Over the past year and a half, shaheens from other batches also wanted to join but hesitated because of its name, shaheen79.com. So we, the administrators of the shaheen79.com, decided to put up this new website as a general meeting place for all shaheens and share our fond memories of the school.

Extracts from the Wiki

History
Established in 1960 as P A F Shaheen College or, Pakistan Air Force's Shaheen College, by Pakistan Air Force to accommodate the children of Airmen. It was part of a project where four Shaheen Schools were founded alongside the four airbases of the Air Force in Bangladesh (then East Pakistan). The other three Shaheens are: Kurmitolla, Jessore and Chittagong Shaheen. This may not be completely true. There is a much older Shaheen at Karachi, Pakistan , P A F Shaheen College.

With over 4,000 students, and a faculty of about 200 staff members, B A F Shaheen College Dhaka, Tejgaon, Dhaka is ranked as the #1 co-educational pre-secondary, secondary and higher secondary educational institution in Bangladesh Unlike many similar institutions, Dhaka Shaheen also runs an undergraduation programme - endorsed by the National University of Bangladesh - the single government appointed higher educational licensing body in the country.

Great work bhaiya! Thanks for all the effort in putting XShaheens together. I am so jealous to find Cadet college guys having a strong link to their batchmates via websites. I will publicize this website among my friends. It would have been good if this URL could be publicized through our school, but they remained as buerocratic as they always have been  :D

best wishes !

Hello fellow Shaheens

It was wonderful to have a web site of my school, I am realy greatful to the fellow who had this thought and made it a palce where the old friends, jouniors and seniors, can have refresher of past best memories of shaheen. The ragging of pricipal and love which he gave us (Our beloved Mamoon Sir) made us achieve what we are now.

I am from Batch 1962 and took admission in class-8 and our batch passed out in 1965. My class fellow from shaheen are also in karachi, pakistan.

Most of them must be in good health in Bangaldesh. Alamgir, wasif, shafahat , atiq , huda, Rafiq mazhar, Najma , roxana, shereen, Mumtaz, afreen... I pray for them to be in good health

Rest all else is fine. Soon I will write about our friend who r  in karachi

I remember one of our batch mates of 78 used to organize a reunion called "The Shaheenities" back in the early 80's. But unfortunately, I could not attend any of them due to some unavoidable situations. Later I went to USA for higher education and never got to know about it. On those days there were no Internet emails; therefore, the events were advertised in the newspapers. If I'm not mistaken, Atiqul Islam, who is now the Managing Director of Islam Garments was one of the main organizers. Arranging a reunion is indeed a good idea, but this time it would combine many different batches with a large number of participants.

By the way, why not we form an official "Shaheen Alumni Association"? With an organization like this we could get involved in long term plans geared towards the development of our nation and do some meaningful projects together. If we do not care about our own country who will?

It is Our Great Friend Zia Shamsi. This is his 3rd one. First one is not active anymore.
Second one, www.shaheen79.com, launched on the 20th of June 2006, is still active. We received multiple request from our ex-shaheens. So we decided to create this forum. It is only Zia Shamsi who Deserves all the Credits. It is our friend (Zia Shamsi) for whom today we are able to talk with each other. Some of us found long lost classmates.

What a great idea ! It will be possible, if few of us show their intention to make it possible. But only those guys can do it who have some time to spare. If you think, it should be taken care of immediately, then pls come forward. Or if you want to wait for more members, then let's wait for few months.
There are lots of people who have some experiences to do this kind of program.

There is a Yahoo group in use by the name "78Shaheens", where the Shaheens' graduated in 1978 are keeping touch with each other. If you happen to be a member of the 78 batch, then you are welcome to join that group where you will find most of your long lost friends and classmates. In fact, I too was welcomed to join by one of the members recently.

Dear Zia,

I am very happy to see a platform of Shaheens after about 28 years of leaving my HSC batchmats at Shaheen school. Now on we can trace each other when we feel like. It's really a great job. Many thanks to you and all who are working very hard to make this happen  However, I am still on a learning mode, looking at the various topics and areas that this website has. Also hoping that my 1980 HSC batchmates will see this website and register soon.

All the best,

Shahriar welcome to the forum. I really appreciate your concern regarding our own language. Normally most of us use mixed language (so called bangreji) in the shout box to communicate each other. It is much easy and workable than English and Bengali for a number of reasons. However I always uphold our own language to use in every sphere of life.

We are waiting on updates of othere ex-shaheens in Pakistan soon, Jamil Bhai.
vvv

Dear Jamil Bhai As Salam Alaikum,
I joined Shaheen School in the year 1963 and did my SSC in the year 1970. I have recognised you. If I am not mistaken, Khalil was your younger brother. I was also in Sher E Bangla House. Yes, Shaheen School has given us CONFIDENCE which is very very important for a person to face all sort of a situation in one's life. March Past every morning was the right beginning for a day.Discipline used to be the order of the day. It has been 38 years since I left Shaheen School but even today, I miss my school and my friends very much. In the year 1972, I moved to Karachi. Did my B.E. ( Civil) from N.E.D. University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. For the last 25 years I am settled in Dubai and for the last ten years I am doing my own consultancy by the name of Pioneer Engineering Consultants.Life remained so busy through out but Alhamdo Lillah I am little relaxed now as my eldest son who is also a civil engineer has joined me. Therefore only in the month of July, 2008,I took a trip to Bangladesh with my another class fellow Jalal Ahmad .This trip was the most memorable trip of my life ,which I am going to cherish ,through out my life. We went to Shaheen School and met Madam Lillo Bilquis, the present Principal. She was very very helpfull. In fact she contacted many of our teachers ( all retired now) and made possible for us to talk to them. We spoke to Sir Kibria &Sir Iskander. Madam Lillo Bilquis also instructed her driver to drop us to Mr. & Mrs. Habib Ul Alam's place making possible for us to personally meet them. Hats Off for the great Lady. Keep it up Madam Lillo Bilquis. Sir Noor uddin , Sir Baksh, Sir Chowhary and Sir Umer have all passed away. May Allah lay their soul in peace( Aameen).

Mohammad Ghyasuddin.

Dear Brothers/Sisters : When I saw this site few days back, I was very exited and readily joined as member. I have been looking for the old buddies, it was 1971 (Class IX) when I left Shaheen, our Principal mamoon ul Rashid (Late), VP Nooruddin, teachers Sir wajiullah, Buksh, chaudhry. Recalling my old memories 37 years back is too much. Some of my old class mates were Adam, Mostafizur Rehman chaudhry, Morshed (son of justice Morshed), Shirin Sultana, Hassan Mir (got on the list), Mohsin, Azam, Mohammad Hussain (shaheen), Shaukat Chandna, Singer Munni Begum. I joined the school in 65-66. There were famous people like Kamal Hossain (our Senior, son of Mujibur Rehamn), Football player Salahuddin, Tanna etc. Can someone recall my old memories giving some more  names of the teacher and collegues and their whereabouts ???

Dear Ghouse Bhai,

First of all welcome to the forum. This is our web based forum and we have our ex students association called ESAD (Ex student Association Dhaka). we are at the growing stage. The first grand event...that is the first re union of the school will take place on 26th Dec this year. We are expecting some elder brother from Pakistan also (they got registered already).

did you find any of your friends in the member list ?? I am sure you will get some one there from your class and they will be able to give you information about others.

Best regards,

Salehin, MM

Zia Vai,

I know a bit too late for this msg, but better late than never...:)
You guys have done a wonderful job putting up this site.  Needless to say it is one of its kind and no one had ever tried to put this up in this scale b4.
I sincerely hope I get to attend the mass re-union and be part of the history.  Like everyone else, I've wayyyy tooooo many memories inside that campus wall!

Warm regards,
